North Ridge Baptism

Jesus instructs his followers to make a public declaration of their personal faith in Him by being baptized. Baptism has nothing to do with one's eternal destination (Eph. 2:8,9), it's simply the biblical way to announce to the world that you're a follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin and because of that we can do nothing to earn a place in heaven. Baptism is an outward expression of one's inner faith. When a follower of Jesus Christ decides to be baptized, he or she is actually deciding to be obedient to Christ's command. In the Bible we read of people who meet Jesus, repent of their sins, and then get baptized (Acts 8). North Ridge believes that baptism is reserved for those who are old enough to recognize their sinfulness and their need for Jesus' forgiveness. How about babies being baptized? What Are The Requirements For Baptism?

First: Profess faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. (Romans 10:9 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.")   Second: Attend a baptism class, which is always offered one week before the actual baptism. The baptism will be conducted by one of the pastors of North Ridge.  All family and friends are welcome to be present in the prayer garden for the special event.

Helpful Hints On The Day Of Your Baptism

Females are to wear a modest bathing suit under outer clothing, which consists of shorts, or sweat pants, and a dark t-shirt or similar combination. Males are to wear bathing trunks and a dark t-shirt or sweatshirt. Bring a towel, hair dryer (optional) and a change of clothing so that you can stay for the service in the Worship Center.                 Please be in the prayer garden at 5 to 10 minutes prior to the designated baptism time. The water will be heated for your comfort during the non-summer seasons.
