Codependency or Christian Service

Codependence causes action from guilt and/or fear.  Christian service causes action from a sense of calling.

Codependence causes action from a “need to be needed.”  Christian service causes action from the desire to glorify God and to bring others into a closer relationship with God.

Codependence is joyless.  Christian service brings inner joy from the Holy Spirit.

Codependence leads to the neglect of personal well being and health.  Christian service always takes place in a balanced lifestyle where the one serving sets limits and cares for personal needs.

Codependence says worth is tied to helping others.  Christian service recognizes that our worth comes from being a person created by God for a purpose.  Our worth is based on God, not the purpose.

Codependence is driven by compulsion.  Christian service is directed by God.
