The Patriarchs

Throughout 10 weeks of exciting, engaging intrigue, participants will plunge into the heart of Genesis, to God's remarkable pursuit of relationship and to the unfolding of His earthly plan: that through one nation—and ultimately, one man—all people on earth will be blessed. Many of the most profound and enduring concepts in the whole counsel of God's Word are initiated in this marvelous book of beginnings.

Participants will explore concepts such as blessing, covenant, and promise, and the bearing each has on a New Testament believer's life today. Group members will also explore the Hebrew names of God introduced on the early pages of Scripture.

The Patriarchs gives participants the opportunity to see a perfect and holy God endure in His relationship to man, whether man is at his best or at his weakest.

A Heart Like His

An 11-week in-depth study of King David, focusing on his years as God's chosen king of Israel. The study demonstrates how God loved and was able to use David despite his disobedience, and it offers many lessons for those seeking to have a heart like God's.

The Vision of His Glory: Finding Hope Through the Revelation of Jesus Christ

This video-based study of selected passages of Revelation begins with a workshop introducing the author's approach to Bible study. The remaining sessions present rich biblical lessons that are both practical and encouraging for believers facing pain, suffering, and doubt.

God's Story: Finding Meaning for Your Life Through Knowing God

Let Anne Graham Lotz lead you through the first 11 chapters of Genesis, unlocking hidden meanings in the familiar accounts of creation, Adam and Eve, Noah and the ark, and the Tower of Babel. Lotz thoughtfully illuminates each moment of creation with inspiring insights and probing reflections to better reveal God, the Creator of us all. This five-session group study includes one session devoted to learning Lotz's approach to reading, studying, and applying Scripture.

 Abraham:  Hearing God's Call

God had promised Abraham, an old man with no children, that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars. Yet Abraham chose to believe God, embarking on a transforming, lifelong journey of faith and obedience. God has made promises to us as well.

As Jack Kuhatschek leads you through this study of Abraham's life, you'll learn to be a person who listens to, obeys and trusts the God who always keeps his promises.

Acts:  Seeing God's Power in Action

Do you ever feel powerless?  It was not always so for the people of the early church.   Jesus transformed their lives--and they changed the world!

Acts is the extraordinary record of what these early Christian disciples did. The power that you see in action in this book is the same power that can transform your life. As Phyllis J. Le Peau leads you through the pages of Acts, you will begin to understand what the Holy Spirit can do in you and in the world.

Colossians & Philemon

We all long for more--more wisdom, more maturity, more power, more faith. To satisfy our longings we attend seminars, go to concerts, listen to celebrity speakers and read popular books. Yet often we come away from these experiences feeling empty. The New Testament books of Colossians and Philemon were written to meet our deepest needs.  As you dig into their depths of wisdom you'll discover how to find lasting fulfillment in Christ.

1 Corinthians:  The Challenges of Life Together

Life among Christians can be great.  But it can also be exasperating!

The joys of fellowship in Christ too often give way to division and debate. You may find yourself drawn into arguments over such things as the correct form of worship or the proper role of charismatic gifts. Perhaps you wonder, Why don't we get along together as we should? Or How can we recapture the unity of the early church?

Surprisingly, the first Christian believers didn't always live in harmony either! As Paul Stevens and Dan Williams lead you through this study of 1 Corinthians, you will see that the issues facing the Corinthian church are little different from the ones your church struggles with year after year. Here in 1 Corinthians is a portrait of Christian community not as it was meant to be, but as it often really is. But here too is practical advice for overcoming the challenges of life together.

2 Corinthians:  Finding Strength in Weakness

Do you despise your weaknesses?  Do you hate hardships?  Do you beg God to remove obstacles from your life?

The apostle Paul delighted in his weaknesses, welcomed hardship as a friend and thanked God for obstacles that offered opportunities to experience God's power. Was he crazy?

In this study guide Paul Stevens shows you how this foundational Christian disciple and church leader will turn your thinking upside down! In everything Paul teaches you to rely, as he did, on God's great promise: "My grace is sufficient for you."

Daniel:  Spiritual Living in a Secular World

A permissive society, a power-hungry people, a nation without God. Daniel's situation in Babylon sounds quite a bit like our own. In the midst of such forces, how can we remain loyal to biblical values? How can we have a positive impact on those around us? Daniel gives us practical and personal help with these questions.

David:  Developing a Heart for God

Who are your role models?

The world desperately needs role models today--people who are fully human yet who exceed human expectations and point others toward God. David is such a role model. His struggles with sin are infamous, and the Psalms reveal his anguish and doubts. Yet he is also described as "a man after God's own heart"--the champion of Israel.

In this study guide, Jack Kuhatschek introduces you to David the servant and the leader, the sinner and the redeemed, the man and the instrument of God's creative purposes. As you explore David's tumultuous story, you too will discover what it means to have a passionate heart for God.

 Deuteronomy:  Becoming Holy People

Do you long to experience God's presence in your life?

In this study guide Stephen D. Eyre leads you to explore the story told in Deuteronomy--the story of God's people seeking after him. As you trace their journey, experiencing their forward progress, their detours and their obstacles, you, too, will learn to follow God more closely.

 Ecclesiastes:  Chasing After Meaning

Are you tired of pat answers to your hard questions of faith?

The writer of Ecclesiastes is not afraid to confront your dilemmas. Like "Where can you find fulfillment?" And "Who is really in control of this world that seems so topsy-turvy?" Or "Is there any value in my work, my struggles, my life?"

As you explore this fascinating Old Testament book with Bill and Teresa Syrios, you will discover how God brings meaning to the world and how following God brings meaning to your life.

 End Times

Do you wonder about the "end times"--

  • when it will come?
  • what it will be like?
  • what will happen to you?

As R. Paul Stevens leads you to examine for yourself what the Bible says about end times, you'll learn what you can do now to be ready for the future--whatever it holds.

 Ephesians

Broken marriages, shattered friendships, racial divisions, war between nations--we live in a fractured world. How can the pieces be put back together?

In the New Testament book of Ephesians Paul lifts the veil from the future to allow us to see God's plan to unite everyone and everything in Christ. Studying this book will renew your hope.

 Exodus:  Learning to Trust God

Sounds simple, right? Yet, you know it is often very, very difficult to trust God with the things that matter most to you--money, career, marriage, health. As you study the book of Exodus, you'll see that Israel faced similar struggles to trust God completely. In this story of hardship and hope, you'll discover along with Israel that God--and God alone--is worthy of our trust.

 Galatians:  Why God Accepts Us

The human acceptance we long for often comes only if we are attractive, smart, wealthy or powerful. And God's standards seem even higher. We think we must work harder, live better, pray longer and witness to more people to get on God's good side. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul shows us the true source of our acceptance--Jesus Christ. These Bible studies on Galatians will help us know that we are worth much more to God than we can ever deserve or imagine!

 Genesis:  God's Creative Call

Do you struggle to know and follow God's call for you in the world? Genesis tells us that even the giants of faith--Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph--struggled to obey their Creator. But Genesis, the first book of the Old Testament, also reveals the amazing truth that the God who called a world and a nation into being also calls each of us to serve him.

 Hebrews:  Race to Glory

"What's the use?"  At times of frustration or disappointment, it is tempting to ask this question. You work and work to grow to Christian maturity, but you seem to get nowhere--repeating your mistakes, neglecting your commitments, losing your motivation.

The original readers of Hebrews felt the same way! Yet the writer of this New Testament letter cheers for them to stay on track and never quit, so they can reach the finish line by the power of Jesus Christ. As James Reapsome leads you through thirteen studies in Hebrews, he offers you--and all of today's faith-weary Christians--the encouragement you need to stay in the faith-race.

 Hosea:  God's Persistent Love

God never gives up.  Even when you rebel, disobey or make a mistake, God continues to pursue you with a relentless love.

As Dale and Sandy Larsen lead you through the fascinating Old Testament story of Hosea, you'll see how a godly man's unfailing love for his wayward wife illustrates God's unconditional, "no-holds-barred" love for you, too.

Isaiah:  Trusting God in Troubled Times

Do you look around you and see nothing but trouble?  Or are you experiencing firsthand a time of suffering?  Do you wonder how any good can come out of the world you live in?

In the Old Testament book of Isaiah, you'll discover that trouble and suffering are nothing new to God's people. But the prophet Isaiah raises a loud cry for revival in this midst of a rotting society. Isaiah firmly believes that God can triumph even in the worst of times.

As Howard Peskett guides you through these studies on Isaiah, you'll dig deep into the prophet's revolutionary message of repentance, forgiveness and hope. And you'll find comfort for coping with your own troubled times.

 James:  Faith That Works

We all want a faith that won't let us down in times of trouble or loss, uncertainty or fear. A faith that can pull us through the worst--and best--times in our lives. This is the kind of faith that James writes about. It is a faith that we must practice day by day. These studies on the teaching of James will help us grow a steadfast faith that can carry us through all the ups and downs of life.

 Jeremiah:  Demanding Love

It was a dark time for Israel. And Jeremiah was their last chance to turn things around.

The ministry to which God called Jeremiah was difficult and painful: proclaim God's demanding love. Yet with this burden, God also gave the prophet a gift--the gift of his presence. In this study guide, Stephen D. Eyre shows how the example of Jeremiah's rich relationship with God can inspire you to become more deeply open to God than ever before.

  Jesus' Final Week

The events that took place during Jesus' final week on earth--Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, the trial, Jesus' death and his resurrection--are foundational to our Christian lives and to our salvation. As these Bible studies allow you to focus more closely on these amazing events, you'll gain new understanding about who Jesus is and how he loves us.

As Paul Stevens leads you through Job's questions and God's answers, you discover comfort, hope and meaning for the suffering in your own life.

We all long for a full, rich, satisfying life.  But how do we fill up the empty places in our souls?  How can we quench our thirst for something deeper, more lasting, more meaningful?

In this study guide on John, Douglas Connelly urges you to take a fresh look at Jesus. Here is the opportunity to establish--or renew--your faith in the One who offers true meaning, true belonging and true life.

 Jonah, Joel & Amos

In today's world it's easy to wander away from God.  Hectic schedules and the quest for success often mean that time with God gets neglected.

But if you slow down long enough to listen, the minor prophets can have a major impact on the quality of your life. These twelve studies in Jonah, Joel and Amos, written by Doug and Doris Haugen, will help you focus on your number one priority--to seek the Lord and live!

 Joseph:  How God Builds Character

The Old Testament book of Joshua reads like an exciting novel--from the miraculous crossing of the Jordan to the crash of the walls of Jericho and the sun stopping in the sky. Through all the twists and turns, you'll witness God's power and faithfulness. Digging into the story of Joshua will encourage you to persevere in your own daily battles and arm you with the most powerful weapons you'll ever need--God's promises.

 Judges:  Returning to God

Sometimes we turn away from God.  Or we fail to love those around us.  We even follow the gods of the world.

Despite everything, God remains faithful, loving us and waiting for us to return to him. This is the story of Israel told in the book of Judges. As Donald Baker leads you to examine it for yourself, you may discover that it is your story as well.

 Luke:  New Hope, New Joy

It was good news not only of Jesus' birth but of what he offered to men, women and children throughout his ministry. To the sick he offered healing. To the hurting, comfort. To the outcast, acceptance. In this study guide Ada Lum leads you to discover that this message of hope and joy is for you as well!

 Mark:  Follow Me

In the New Testament Gospel of Mark, we meet Jesus, the man who is King. But this king comes to serve--not to be served. He eats with sinners rather than royalty. His crown is made of thorns instead of gold. This study guide introduces you to the compassionate, suffering, astonishing king who calls us to follow him.

 Mathew:  Being Discipled by Jesus

What would it be like to be discipled by Jesus himself? What would he teach you about relationships, priorities, wealth and his coming kingdom? What would you learn from his actions? Matthew's Gospel brings you face to face with Jesus as he calls, teaches and prepares his disciples. As you work through these Bible studies on Matthew, you can become one of those chosen followers.

 Meeting Jesus

Once you've met Jesus, you are never the same again. His teaching challenges your thinking. His compassion softens your heart. His love turns your life around. In this Bible study, evangelist Leighton Ford leads you through thirteen studies from the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) that will open your eyes anew--or for the first time--to Jesus Christ.

Nehemiah:  The Courage to Face Opposition

As Don Fields leads you through thirteen sessions to dig into the Old Testament story of Nehemiah, you will discover how this leader's courage and faith can inspire you as you struggle to live a life pleasing to God.

 New Testament Characters

A throw-away woman
A blind beggar
A prison guard
A doubting disciple
An elderly couple

They were ordinary people. Some were never even mentioned by name. Yet they were all touched by Jesus.

In this study guide, Carolyn Nystrom introduces you to the fascinating men and women of the New Testament. As you enter into their stories, you'll discover how you too can be touched by the Savior.

Old Testament Characters

Abraham is an unforgettable portrait of faith. Daniel is a classic example of holiness. And through her willingness to risk her own life, Esther shows us what commitment means. This Bible study introduces you to twelve remarkable lives described in the Old Testament. The stories of these people from the ancient past can help you learn to live well even today.

Parables:  The Greatest Stories Ever Told

We all love a good story. But the parables of Jesus are even better than that. They sneak up on us, catching us off guard and toppling our easy assumptions. When the familiar takes an unexpected twist, we find our secret thoughts exposed to the healing light of Jesus. This Bible study introduces twelve of the greatest stories ever told; how might they change your thoughts and actions?

Peter:  Learning to Be Like Jesus

Simon Peter was a follower like us--he wanted to be like Jesus, but he struggled with doubts and fears. At times he failed miserably. At other times he was used powerfully by God. This Bible study on the great apostle's life challenges and motivates us to continue to grow in Christ likeness.

1&2 Peter and Jude

"I'll never grow up."

Sometimes we all feel a little like Peter Pan. We'd rather be children, free of obligations and responsibilities. Sometimes we even feel that way about our Christian lives.

The writers of 1 & 2 Peter and Jude understand how difficult it is to grow into maturity. As Carolyn Nystrom leads us through these letters, we see how God provides direction and comfort when we travel dark roads. And we discover what it takes to be mature in Christ.

 Philippians:  Jesus Our Joy

But what would it be like to have a sense of joy that continued even in times of trouble? Such was the deep joy that the apostle Paul experienced--even in prison. His contentment was neither dependent on circumstances nor changed by difficulty. In his brief letter to the Philippians, Paul will show you too how to live joyfully in every situation.

Prayer:  An Adventure with God

You pray for your own needs and for the needs of others. You pray in the face of conflict, and you pray for forgiveness. You pray to pour out your heart to God and to gain a glimpse of God's heart for you.

As David Healey leads you through the prayers of men and women in the Bible (Mary, Abraham, Moses, Daniel and more!), you will gain new insights into why, what and how to pray. And you will experience more fully the adventure that prayer can be.

 Revelation:  The Triumph of God

In every age people have felt certain that the book of Revelation described events in their time. As nations arm themselves for war, we think of Armageddon. As evil rulers grow in power, we look for the Antichrist. As the powers of darkness threaten to overwhelm us, we cry, "Come, Lord Jesus!" Amid the uncertainties of our age, Revelation assures us of the ultimate triumph of God.

 Romans:  Becoming New in Christ

Sometimes our worship loses its passion. Our prayer life becomes stagnant. We forget why we are serving God. And slowly, subtly, the world's ways become our ways.

The New Testament book of Romans addresses these problems, showing us how we can break out of old patterns and become new in Christ.

1&2 Thessalonians:  How Can I Be Sure?

When you suffer, do you wonder if God has forgotten you?  Do you wonder whether you will be with Jesus after you die?  Would you like to be sure that your life is pleasing to God?

At times every Christian feels anxious or insecure about life--and about faith. The Thessalonians asked many of the questions you ask today, and Paul's letters helped them find assurance. In these studies on 1 & 2 Thessalonians, Donald Baker shows how Paul's answers can help you to be certain too.

1&2 Timothy and Titus:  Do What You Have Heard

Deteriorating values. Competing religions. Weakening morality.  Do you feel sometimes that the world presents you with more problems than you can handle?

Timothy and Titus faced all of these tough issues as young church leaders. But Paul encouraged them to put aside timidity and insecurity, and to find strength in Christ. As Pete Sommer guides you into study of these letters, you'll also find the support you need to follow through in obedience to God's Word.
