GOOD VIBRATIONS COMING TO NORTH RIDGE!
Have you ever wondered what it
would be like to be a Beach Boy? Billy
Hinsche first played with the Beach Boys
in 1965 and became a permanent band member and vocalist with them in 1974. His musical career began in 1964 when he
formed the group Dino, Desi and Billy
with grade school friends Dean Paul Martin (son of the legendary Dean Martin)
and Desi Arnaz Jr. (son of the legendary Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball). In 2007 Billy toured with Brian Wilson and
is currently the musical director for Beach Boy Al Jardine and his Endless Summer band! As part of its Endless
Summer series, North Ridge Community Church is proud to host Billy Hinsche
in both its 9:00am and 10:45am services on Sunday July 12th. Billy (who also was the brother-in-law of
the late Beach Boy Carl Wilson) will be sharing some fascinating stories of his
life with the Beach Boys and his own faith journey. It will be a great day to invite a friend to church and wear you Beach Boy attire to make
Billy feel welcomed!
ALL-CHURCH TREE TRIMMING DAY!
Thanks to the 38
folks who got up bright and early this past Saturday and made short work of
getting all the trees on campus trimmed.
We sent three loads (over 9 tons) of debris to the dump. Their service to North Ridge presented over
114 volunteer hours!
NEW – JOURNEY – Career Networking Group
(1st and 3rd Wednesdays 9am in the Prescott Rm)
The Journey is for
people who are out of work, sometimes questioning their ability to contribute
in the marketplace or even their self-worth.
It’s a ministry for those who believe God is able to take a challenging
time in their life and do something special with it. If you are between jobs, looking for a different kind of
networking group, and have an excitement to see what God will do next in your life
– you are probably read to go on a Journey. We start the Journey on Wednesday, July 1st
from 9-10am in the Prescott Rm. Contact

Saturday, July 4th 12pm @ AZ Broadway Theatre – Bye Bye Birdie: Dinner and
show $58.50 pp
Conrad Birdie, the biggest singing sensation of the 1960s, has
been drafted! But before he ships out,
his manager signs him up for one last publicity stunt: Conrad will kiss one
randomly chosen member of his teenage fan club goodbye on a live broadcast of The
Ed Sullivan Show. Kim MacAfee of
Sweet Apple, Ohio, has little idea how much her life is about to change when
she becomes the lucky girl chosen!
Inspired by the hysteria surrounding Elvis Presley’s induction into the
Army, this fun-lovin’ musical comedy presents a hilarious look at bygone days.
We have an area reserved
just for North Ridge folks. Call the AZ Broadway Theatre to
charge your ticket today (623-776-8400) – make sure you tell them to place you
in the NRCC section. We will have a

B.I.G. 2009
UPDATE
(Biblical –
Influential – Grace Based)
We had an incredible
Celebration Breakfast and Pastor Mike shared his vision for North Ridge in
2009. He described what he called the
“Ridge Bridge” – a renovated courtyard area that would be similar to the Desert
Ridge that would be used as a place of grace for our neighbors, community and
North Ridge families. It could include
a fireplace, water feature, mini sound stage and TV, outdoor tables/chairs,
awnings, misters, kiosks for a portable book store and maybe even a grill. It would be a place to gather, hold sunset
services, small concerts, community meeting as well as multiple uses for our
own North Ridge ministries. We had 70
families submit B.I.G. pledges for our 2009-fundraiser campaign representing
over $136,500. Please pray about how
God would have you support our Think B.I.G. plans in 2009. Pledge cards are available at the
information center, church office or email Jamie
to request an electronic copy. Be sure
and stop by the Info Table to pick up your THINK B.I.G. in 2009
ruler to have a visual reminder year round to pray for North Ridge to become
B.I.G. (Biblical – Influential – Grace Based).
Current Status as of 06/18/09: 86 families pledge $152,710

Ridge. Class will not

NEW –Ephesians –10:30am
(Prescott Room) May 17th - July 5th
Join us for a study on Ephesians and find YOUR place
in the church. Then plan on coming to our
next 5-week summer study starts July 12th. There’s been a lot of talk in our culture about “change.” Some
are even saying, “keep the change.”
Then there’s others who say, “change is the only constant in our world.” Finally, there are a few who say,
“Change? Who said anything about
change?” From God’s perspective, change
is part of our Christian walk with Christ.
What are the evidences of Christian change and what difference does this
make? We will dive into a study on Marks
of a Changed Life. (Led by Pastor
Paul Fredericks, chaplain for Hospice of the Valley.)
SUNDAY WOMEN’S GROUP – 10:30am

NEW - Significant Living
Celebrating Life and Faith – Midlife and
Beyond
SIGNIFICANT
LIVING
Mission: To direct people to Christ and to
provide a local gathering place for relationships, fun and resources to foster the
celebration of life and faith in midlife and beyond.
WHAT IS SIGNIFICANT LIVING?
One important measure of a successful life is the number and
quality of really close friends – people that you really share life with at the
most basic level. We are all known by a
set of numbers floating through cyberspace and written on files in a multitude
of bureaucratic offices. We are dots
and spaces, millions of pixels on a plasma screen or digital photo. Most of us are starved for
relationships. We want real flesh and
blood people to talk to, to share with, to grow with, to laugh with, and most
of all to serve with in noble causes that help mankind. When was the last time someone called you up
out of the blue to just go out and “play” together? On July 4th - Saturday at noon - We are going to the AZ
Broadway Dinner Theater. - come "play" with us!! (See details
below)
This is the reason for Significant Living and the Encore
ministries. We want to provide a place to meet other Christians in midlife
and beyond and begin sharing life together. ENCORE will be
meeting the 1st Saturday of each month beginning September 5th. We will usually meet in the Ridge Cafe one
month, and the next month we will plan on going somewhere else with each
other. If you would like to help plan
these events, we have a group called "S.O.S. Vision Team" (share our
stuff) that will meet to plan these happenings. If you want to enjoy life more abundantly,
then join with us! Call Dwayne
or Shari McLuhan at (623) 362-8946 for more information.

UPDATE
FROM THE NUNZIATO FAMILY – OUR MISSIONARIES SERVING HISPANIC COMMUNITIES IN
OREGON (07/02/09)
Dear Missions Team at NRCC,
I finally got to
meet Pastor Raul. Tom has been driving
to Wilsonville (about an hour south) every few weeks to meet with him, for
several months now. Raul’s eyes sparkled as he told me how they met on
graduation day at the Hispanic Bible Institute. Tom simply introduced himself and said that if he could be of
service, in any way…to give him a call.
Weeks later, during a time of burn out and frustration with ministry,
God reminded Raul about Tom’s offer. He
found the card and called.
According to Pastor Raul,
Tom has helped and encouraged him in very practical ways. His face glowed as he
told us that his church, which consisted of 32 people last February, had 104
adults and youth in last Sunday’s service.
He thinks the church can reach 400 by the end of the year! It was fun to watch Tom’s sincere and gentle
response to Raul’s faith and enthusiasm.
He asked a simple question, “then what do you need to do to prepare to
be a church of 400 before December?”
Tom explained to him the importance of developing leaders and how Pastor
Raul could not lead a church of that size alone. An interesting dialogue ensued.
I know what they will be talking about the next time they meet!
Recently Pastor Raul has
seen God do some incredible miracles in people’s lives, and he was eager to
tell us about it. People have been
healed of addictions and of physical illnesses. Pastor Raul’s faith in God’s power to change lives comes from
personal experience. He was an
unfaithful and jealous husband, a violent father, and a corrupt police captain
in his native Mexico. Ten years ago he
and his wife Guadalupe put their faith in Jesus and they were never the
same. Now he offers this same
life-changing opportunity to anyone who will listen, oftentimes praying for
drug-addicts and others on the street.
As we returned home
yesterday afternoon I marveled at God’s goodness. Its no wonder Tom enjoys meeting with Pastor Raul. His commitment to reaching other Spanish
speakers for Christ, out on the streets, is inspiring. And, its no wonder Pastor Raul enjoys
meeting with Tom. God speaks through
Tom in practical ways that impact the way Raul pastors his church.
You are a part of this,
too! Because of your monthly support,
Tom and Pastor Raul can meet together regularly. Fulfilling God’s commandment to make disciples of all the nations
is a team effort, enhanced by the participation of each of us.
We are grateful that NRCC is
part of this team.
Your missionaries,
Tom and Janni Nunziato
(Serving with CRM, Hispanic Ministries)
