Dear North Ridge Friends,
I have a confession to make. As I write this I am having a relaxing lunch date with a pretty young lady and she is not my wife
! Gasp! I have long had strong feelings for this lovely lady. Gasp! She keeps her place neat, never seems to age, has long red braids, cute little freckles and every time I see her she offers to make me something to eat. Double gasp! Does this mean some kind of scandal is going on? Not really. It just means Pastor Mike is rewarding himself for having a salad for lunch by eating a Frosty at Wendy’s again!
A few years ago I had to wait while getting new tires near Tatum and Bell. Next door to the tire shop was
a Wendy’s so I walked over and spent a couple hours with my favorite red head. I gotta say If you ever gotta be stuck, Wendy’s is the place to be! Just as there are good places to be stuck, there are also bad places to be stuck. When we get stuck in a really bad place the feeling we experience is desperation and many of us know what that’s like. This Sunday (8/6) we will talk about what to do if you find yourself stuck in a bad place. As we hit week two of our awesome At The Movies series, we will look at what has been the most popular movie in the world over the past month and identify five things God says desperate people need to know to both survive and thrive.
This is going to be a terrific Sunday and I hope you’ll invite a friend or neighbor to join us for this practical series and relevant message. We will once again be serving popcorn in all of our services (even our Live@5 service this week)! We also will be giving every first-time guest you bring a free movie pass! I even heard a rumor our awesome choir and full praise teams will be back in action after a little break. I’m so excited about this Sunday I may even show up on Saturday to get a good seat … and maybe I’ll even invite my friend Wendy! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I can’t wait to see you and your crew on Sunday as North Ridge goes to the movies! Sure do love you and am so glad to be back with you and the crew.
Making Hope Happen Through Jesus,
Exodus 14:9-14 … all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops—pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea… As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up and …. they were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? … It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today…. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
2 Timothy 3:2-5 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
1 Corinthians 16:17-18 I am glad about the coming of Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus, for what was lacking on your part they supplied. For they refreshed my spirit and yours.…
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Nehemiah 6:2-4 Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” But they were scheming to harm me; so I sent messengers to them with this reply: “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?” Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer.
2 Chronicles 7:14-15 if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.
