Thanks to a wild week, I’m running a little behind so I’ll keep this brief. (OK! I heard that cheering!). I just want to invite you to join us on Sunday for the second installment of our three part series called Money, Sex and Power. This week we will sneak a peek at the sensitive subject of sex. Sex (like money and power) dominates our culture’s thoughts, lives and conversation. As we examine 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 and other passages, we will identify four things God wants every follower of Jesus to know about sacred sex; and how to bring your faith into a #metoo culture.
I promise you this won’t be dull and will be a super Sunday so be sure to invite a friend. Can’t wait to see you and the crew! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Sure Do Love You,
Some Of This Coming Week’s Scripture Passages: (Your One-A-Day Vitamin)
1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 As for other matters…we instructed you how to live in order to please God …. It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality, that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure but to live a holy life….
Genesis 2:21-25 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep… Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
Proverbs 5:18-19 May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer— may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
Proverbs 5:15-17 Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers.
1 Corinthians 6:18-20 … Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
1 Corinthians 7:2-4 But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife’s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband’s body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.
Job 31:1 “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl.
