Shipwrecked (Week 1)

When I take a trip to the grocery store it’s not really a new adventure as it’s a trip I’ve made hundreds of times. I know the route to drive, how long it takes, where to park and once inside I know exactly where the cookies, chips and Blue Bell ice cream are located! But at other times there are journeys to and through new places that are filled with much more drama and uncertainty than the frozen food section. We call these kind of trips “adventures”. They are often thrilling and chilling but they are rarely boring.

Adventures into the unknown zone are the ones that mess with our minds, fool with our feelings and cause our hearts to rapidly race. But these scary journeys are also the ones that make us feel alive, teach us lessons on life and reveal God and what role He wants to play in our life. That’s why I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we begin a new series called Shipwrecked and learn how to thrive not just survive a journey through the unknown zone. In week one we will join the Apostle Paul on what might have been the scariest, hairiest trip in history. As we examine Acts 27:1-26, we will identify five things you need to know when facing an uncertain future. If you or someone you know is facing uncertainty in their health, career, or relationships, you won’t want to miss this Sunday or this series.

On another note, now that it’s July we are firing up our annual food drive to benefit the Foothills Food Bank. This week we are collecting canned soups so if you have a can or two you’d like to share, drop them off this Sunday in our lobby. We’ll make sure they get to families who are facing tough times and uncertain futures. I love the heart you and our crew all have for the least, last and lost in our community. Can’t wait to hang out with you on Sunday and to see what God is going to do through His Word and His Family.

Together In His Love,

Pastor Mike

Some Of This Coming Week’s Scripture Passages:                   (Your One-A-Day Vitamin)

Proverbs 12:15 The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Luke 10:33-34 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.
