Have you done a favor for someone only to have them complain that it wasn’t good enough? Have you ever done something really special for someone only to have them not notice? If you’ve ever had these experiences you have likely met an “ingrate.” Ungrateful people are everywhere and they are some of the most selfish and annoying people to populate our planet. The sin of ingratitude bugs God too. He repeatedly and extravagantly pours out His blessings upon us and when we fail to notice, He notices that we don’t notice!
How can we overcome ingratitude? Is there a remedy for entitlement? What does God have to say about Thanksgiving? Join us this Sunday as we answer these questions in week three of our series in Psalms called Wag More, Bark Less. This week’s special speaker will be Pastor Steve Johnson, the executive Vice President of Phoenix Seminary and former President of Latin American Missions. Steve is a gifted leader and speaker and served as the original teaching pastor when North Ridge Community Church was born in 1994! As Steve shares some important insights from Psalm 100, we will learn the four dimensions of gratitude and discover how to put the great back in grateful. I can’t wait to learn what Jesus is going to teach us through this meaningful message. We also will be expressing our thanks to God through some incredible music and hanging out (fellowshipping) with some of the best peeps this side of the Mississippi. Also, if you’d like to hear more about our fiancé (Scottsdale Bible Church), come by a special class taught by Kevin Yule called This is SBC after the 10:45 AM service in the Ridge Café.
Well I had better let you go so you can begin making those pumpkin pies. We’ve been through some incredible changes and challenges this year and God has led every step of the way. This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for His presence, protection, peace and patience. I also am grateful for you and your crew as well as this great group of folks we call North Ridge. Can’t wait to see you on Sunday!
Together In His Love,
P.S. This is the final week of our Recycle Your Bicycle collection for Arizona foster kids! If you have a bicycle in your garage gathering dust, bring it by North Ridge on Sunday and just park it outside the Ridge Café. We will take it from there. Also, if you don’t have other Thanksgiving plans our Men’s Ministry will once again be offering a free turkey with trimmings dinner for you and your crew at noon on Thursday. Just let us know you’re coming, RSVP here.
